Kushana Bush

Kushana Bush (b.1983), lives and works in Dunedin, New Zealand and has a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Otago Polytechnic School of Art, Dunedin. In 2009 Kushana won the Art and Australia Contemporary Art Award. In that same year she was Artist in Residence at the National Art studio, Changdong, Seoul (an Arts Centre/Asia NZ Foundation Residency). Kushana was the Frances Hodgkins Fellow at The University of Otago in 2011 producing art work for the show ‘All Things to All Men’ during her tenure.  Kushana’s works have been described as ‘fascinating’, ‘unique’, ‘delightful’, yet ‘sometimes disturbing’ in their ‘enormous proliferation of tiny detail’.  Her technique is also distinctive, done on pale grey paper in gouache, an opaque watercolour medium, and in pencil.  We are delighted to be showing pieces from the ‘Tender Paintings’ Collection in A Different View.

Kushana is represented by Brett McDowell Gallery, Dunedin, Ivan Anthony Gallery, Auckland and Darren Knight Gallery, Sydney Australia.  Her publication All Things to All Men is a catalogue of her 2012 exhibition and available from Ivan Anthony Gallery.
